Empowering DIVORCED Women through collective activism
A place where women victimized by sexism in their divorces can share their experiences and help create change.
A place where women victimized by sexism in their divorces can share their experiences and help create change.
We are dedicated to providing a place for women to share their experiences of sexism in divorce proceedings. Our mission is to collect meaningful data in order to create awareness of the multi-faceted ways in which women are victimized by institutionalized sexism in their divorces. Given that divorce is one of the leading causes of poverty among women, this problem MUST be addressed.
Divorce proceedings operate within a legal system that is: (i) comprised of ineffective laws and loopholes that unfairly shift the financial burden of divorce to dependent spouses, most of whom are women; and (ii) premised on antiquated patriarchal ideologies that frequently devalue the contributions and sacrifices made by women as mothers and wives during their marriages. The result is income inequality similar to that experienced by women in the workplace, and it likewise contributes to the economic and political disempowerment of divorced women nationwide.
If you have been victimized by sexism in your divorce, we want to hear from you! You can submit your story anonymously if you wish, but we do ask that you at least provide us with your state of residency, so that our advocates in your state can collect and be armed with the data needed to demand change in your state.

SAMPLE LETTER:
Dear Chief Justice _________:
Please create a special commission or task force to investigate institutionalized sexism in divorce/family court proceedings in [Insert Your State]. This commission must be comprised of properly vetted, ethics investigators and gender equity policy analysts, rather than members of the bar or any internal judicial office/administrative agency, as they are, themselves, part of the system that needs to be examined. I have been victimized by sexism in my divorce, and I cannot afford to hire a lawyer to correct this, nor should I be required to do so, as the Constitution guarantees me the right to receive fair and equitable treatment under the law.
